Psy-Phi Dialogues #3
Where we plan to address the media-ization of psychology, the concept of happiness and more
My friend Peter Saint-Andre and I will do our next installment of conversation at the interface of psychology and philosophy this Thursday at 8:30amPST/11:30amEST, please join us!
A friend of Peter’s suggested the term “Psy-Phi” to describe our dialogues and we both like it so we’re going with that. (Maybe in one of them we’ll talk about the role of sci-fi in advancing psychology and philosophy!)
In this one we’ll pick up on something that came up last time and discuss how psychological and philosophical ideas get translated via media into popular concepts (including for example concepts of diagnosis and personal identity that may or may not always help us along).
I’ve also been chomping at the bit to ask Peter about how the concept of happiness is understood through a philosophical lens. Peter has been working on a book about Aristotle and I suspect there could be much of interest to plumb into there.
Perhaps I should add, I’ve been quiet on Substack of late due to engaging in a bit of a reset of professional priorities and approach to communicating, but with no plans to stop doing these dialogues with Peter since they’ve been extremely fun and we’ve gotten good feedback about them from listeners/viewers.
So again, please join us and let us know what you think and what other topics you might like us to get into.
all the best,
Adrian
